Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

Position Type: 1-Year W2 Assignment, potential to extend

Pay Rate: $65-75/ HR

 

Seeking a Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer to optimize our industrial campus facility's mechanical systems. Your role involves overseeing the design, selection, construction, and operational support of various systems, such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, compressors, and more, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence. Expertise in critical areas is essential for success in this vital role.

 

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelors or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in HVAC.

 

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in high-tech electronics/semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical biotech facilities, or similar "high availability" environments.
  • Previous positions held in roles such as Senior Facilities Engineer, Senior Design Engineer (MEP Consulting Engineering Firm), or Senior Design Engineer (Design-Build Mechanical Contractor).

 

Technical Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience with facility mechanical systems and equipment, including Centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, and more (please provide specific examples).
  • Strong knowledge of design standards for Clean Rooms, Analytical Labs, Data Centers, Telecom Rooms, Offices, Mechanical Rooms, and Central Utility Plants.
  • Strong HVAC (5-7 years MUST HAVE) and Process Piping skills.
  • Experience with Facility Control systems.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical power systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Education:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

 

Licensing:

  • PE license or equivalent technical background

 

Project Management:

  • Lead the management of projects during the design and construction phases.
  • Organize and oversee project meetings.
  • Develop comprehensive project scopes of work and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Evaluate competitive bids and make recommendations for vendor selection.

 

Engineering Expertise:

  • Review and provide feedback on mechanical system designs produced by MEP design firms.
  • Review existing mechanical system designs to troubleshoot and recommend engineered solutions.
  • Offer suggestions for improvements to existing systems.

 

Facility Assessment:

  • Assist with facility condition assessments of existing mechanical systems.
  • Conduct field investigations to review existing mechanical system installations when required.
  • Contribute to site systems capacity planning, considering projected load growth, required system redundancy, and end-of-life determinations.

 

Sustainability Focus:

  • Evaluate new systems or equipment using ROI, total cost of ownership, reliability, performance, and energy efficiency calculations.
  • Develop and manage projects that align with our corporate sustainability goals, emphasizing energy and water savings.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Your resume must showcase experience with the wide range of facility mechanical systems and equipment mentioned earlier.
  • Proven experience in creating new capital project ROM estimates, construction schedules, and funding justification presentations.
  • Demonstrated Facilities Engineering Experience.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree is a must.
