Transplant Financial Coordinator
Location: Los Angeles, CA (100% on-site)
13-Week W2 Contract Assignment (position for someone on leave)

Our client, a leading private university in Los Angeles, CA, is hiring a Transplant Financial Coordinator to ensure insurance coverage for transplant patients. Support their Medical Enterprise, the responsibilities include verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, counseling patients on insurance options, addressing lapses or under-coverage, and navigating the complexities of transplant benefits across different insurance plans.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and clarify insurance and financial details for patients throughout the transplant process, from referral to post-transplantation, with a compassionate approach to facilitate seamless access and continuity of care.
- Assist patients and families with insurance and financial inquiries, collaborating with transplant teams, administrative staff, billing, and clinical personnel to ensure financial coverage.
- Obtain and document detailed insurance benefit information, including transplant-related procedures, outpatient visits, diagnostic testing, and other associated costs.
- Secure and verify all necessary payer authorizations and clearances, aiming for less than 5% error, while monitoring coverage throughout all transplant phases.
- Develop relationships with insurance case managers to expedite authorization approvals, providing timely clinical data when required by third-party payers.
- Communicate financial details and potential liabilities to the transplant team, patients, and families, and guide them through applications for financial assistance as needed.
- Contribute financial expertise during weekly transplant selection meetings and clinics, preparing patient financial reports to support multidisciplinary decision-making.
Education & Experience:
- Min Education: AA degree
- BA/BS preferred
- 2+ years of experience in the medical field, including transplant and transplant finance preferred.
- Content knowledge of medical terminology and transplant process preferred.
- Bilingual strongly preferred; if bilingual certified department translator strongly preferred.
