Employee Relations Specialist

Location: Los Angeles, CA. (Hybrid 2 days on site)
3 Months Assignment (Great potential to extend or convert)
Pay Rate: $50.00/hr.
Schedule: M-F 9:00am-5:00pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Document and manage employee relations or workplace concerns in a case management system. Initiate fact-finding processes, conduct thorough investigations, and determine appropriate resolutions. Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring every concern is documented and addressed. Escalate employee concerns as necessary and engage with employees regarding reasonable accommodation requests.
  • Serve as the point of contact for management and employees, offering guidance on managing employee performance, focusing on performance improvement, and corrective action matters.
  • Partner closely with HR Partners and the Performance Management team to address performance issues and facilitate educational workshops on employee relations.
  • Maintain communication with other HR functional areas to drive alignment and accountability.
  • Conduct routine data analysis to identify and escalate key trends in employee relations issues. Design and implement proactive programs and policies that improve employee relations and foster a positive working environment. Maintain confidential records regarding all reported cases and investigations.
  • Interpret and apply understanding of university policies, employment law, and regulations to provide advice on employee relations inquiries. Stay updated on employment legal trends and recommend process or technology improvements.
  • Assess current employee relations policies for potential bias and develop action plans. Uphold the highest level of integrity when managing employee relations issues and foster an inclusive environment aligned with ethical standards.

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, psychology, communications, employment law, industrial relations, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following fields: human resources, behavioral or social science, or organizational psychology.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies.
  • Experience in higher education and employment law.
  • Knowledge of best practices for investigating and resolving employee or workplace concerns, with a focus on reducing bias.
  • Ability to train staff on policies, practices, and industry trends.
