Location: San Rafael, CA.
12 month assignment (great potential to extend or convert)
Pay Rate: $74/hr.

On behalf of our client a leading pharmaceutical company that specializes in the development of therapeutics for patients with life threatening, rare genetic diseases.  We are seeking a skilled Bioconjugation Scientist to join the R&D team focusing on the synthesis, optimization, and delivery of polymer, protein/peptide, and lipidated bioconjugates, with a primary emphasis on oligonucleotides. This role involves developing and implementing new linker chemistries and bioconjugation methods for targeted drug delivery. The Bioconjugation Scientist will leverage advanced purification and analytical characterization techniques to ensure high-quality control and validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the synthesis, optimization, and delivery of bioconjugates, focusing on polymers, proteins/peptides, lipids, and oligonucleotides.
  • Develop and implement Client linker chemistries and bioconjugation methods for targeted drug delivery.
  • Utilize various purification techniques, including liquid chromatography (RP, IEX, SEC, HIC, affinity, FPLC) and membrane filtrations (TFF).
  • Apply biochemistry techniques and analytical methods such as SEC-MALs, LCMS, SPR/BLI, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and enzyme activity assays.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to transfer materials and support in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Biology, Chemistry, or related fields is required; as well as 2+ years of industry/post-doc experience relating to drug development
  • Extensive experience with bioconjugation strategies for polymers, proteins/peptides, lipids, and oligonucleotides.
  • Strong foundation in macromolecular chemistry, bioconjugation, analytical chemistry and/or chemical biology is strongly desired.
  • A record of accomplishments/publications in relevant scientific discipline and some hands-on experience in oligonucleotide delivery is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in bioconjugate purification techniques, including liquid chromatography methods and membrane filtration.
  • Familiarity with biochemistry techniques and analytical methods (SEC-MALs, LCMS, SPR/BLI, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, enzyme assays).
