Instructional Designer II
Location: San Jose, CA or Irvine, CA
Work Schedule: Hybrid – Onsite Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Duration: 5-Month Contract
Pay: $48-52 / HR

Job Description
We are seeking a creative and motivated Instructional Designer II to support the development of engaging e-learning courses, virtual training materials, and other learning resources for a global technology company. This 5-month contract opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in instructional design, hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline or Rise, and a passion for creating interactive learning experiences.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with stakeholders to develop effective training solutions. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and AI-assisted content development is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop engaging e-learning courses, virtual instructor-led training (VILT), job aids, and other learning materials.
• Create interactive learning experiences using Articulate Storyline and/or Rise.
• Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to training content.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop learning solutions.
• Develop creative, visually engaging activities for virtual training environments.
• Upload, test, and maintain training content within a Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure training materials meet branding, accessibility, and quality standards.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback to continuously improve learning content.
• Leverage AI tools to streamline content development and enhance learning experiences when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of instructional design, e-learning development, or corporate training experience. Strong candidates with less experience will also be considered.
• Hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline and/or Rise.
• Strong understanding of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
• Experience developing interactive e-learning and virtual instructor-led training materials.
• Strong visual design, creativity, and learner engagement skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, and Windows-based environments.
• Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• College degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) or Workday Learning.
• Familiarity with SCORM-compliant Learning Management Systems.
• Experience uploading, configuring, and maintaining LMS training content.
• Experience using AI tools and prompt engineering for instructional content development.
• Background supporting corporate learning and development programs.
• Experience creating multimedia training materials and interactive virtual learning activities.
• Familiarity with learning analytics and training effectiveness measurements.
